I'm a professional writer/copywriter/editor from NY, now living in Wellington. Been in SFRC 5 years, and a rider since 1962 on bikes of 55, 160, 350, 450, and now 750cc. Have done 1700+ milers to the Barber M/C Museum in AL and to the Dragon in NC.

What do you ride?

1992 Honda Nighthawk 750. It's the great, great grandson of the original Honda CB750 of the 1970s, "the bike that changed motorcycling."

What name have you given to your bike?

"Jayhawk," but with over 100K miles, it could be called "old reliable."

Locally, it's Rt 714 (aka Martin Hwy) from 710 to 609, the "tunnel of trees,"

The South Florida Riders Club was formed in June 1996. SFRC is a social outlet for the motorcycle enthusiast as well as a riding club. There is a strong core of active members from a wide variety of professions. All makes and models of bikes are welcomed... tourers, cruisers, trikes & sport. We are Honda Riders Club of America Chapter 0377, but all makes and models of bikes are welcome and HRC membership is not a requirement.

Alcohol is strictly prohibited during club events and rides. Conversation, laughter, and spending time with good friends covering many miles is required.

SFRC is a motorcycle riding club. We ride 51 Sundays per year. During the summer months we take breakfast rides that are between 30-100 miles round trip and during the rest of the year take lunch rides between 200-300 miles round trip. Our rides are structured for safety and are well organization. Although we try to ride the back roads as much as possible, on some rides there is a short portion on either I95 or Florida’s Turnpike to get to the back roads from our meet-up points.

Membership in the club is more of an open invitation to become a member of our family, and we look forward to meeting many new family members. We are an established club with annual membership dues of $30.00. We are not an Internet based social club. Prospective members must attend a barbeque or monthly meeting and participate in a club ride prior to being considered for membership.

SFRC’s main Internet presence is at www.sfrc.org. Our meetup.com page exists is to increase our presence as well as to introduce ourselves to potential new members. Since we are not Internet based, our number of members on this site does not represent our actual membership. Any inquiries can be directed to membership@sfrc.org or you can visit our website www.sfrc.org to view a ride calendar, membership application and meeting locations. In addition to weekly structured rides, we have monthly meetings and barbeques at Riva Motorsports in Pompano Beach.

Membership benefits include receiving discounts from our sponsor, Riva Motorsports. SFRC Members' benefits will include a 10% discount on parts and accessories anytime and 15% on BBQ Day. Service benefits include priority appointments and 10% off labor, except on specials. Members also will receive special pricing on new and used bikes.
